CREEC AT THE CEDAT OPEN DAY 2017 EXHIBITION

CREEC AT THE CEDAT OPEN DAY 2017 EXHIBITION

The youth listen attentively to knowledge about Solar during the exhibition.

The theme for this years CEDAT open day exhibition was promoting youth innovation to boost job creation and employment amongst the youth in Uganda.”  CREEC’s presentations were in line with this years theme as the exhibition also gave the students a learning opportunity to understand what innovations can be applicable in the field and also to make innovations that will meet the needs of the Ugandan people. CREEC through its innovations has been in position to reduce on deforestation in Uganda by helping people understand as well as have access to modern types of energy. With the availability of alternative sustainable forms of energy like solar and bio gas, Ugandans can stop relying on fuels like charcoal and firewood

The youth were also taught how Solar can be useful in the running of the day to day activities in a home through effective energy use.  It is important to have our youth begin thinking about renewable energy technologies and sustainable practices early and in that way they can be in position to provide solutions to the issues affecting our communities. The students’ eagerness to learn more about solar gave the Centre for Research in Energy and Energy Conservation a go ahead as far as solar and solar trainings are concerned.

The guest of honour was the Minister for Science Technology and Innovation, Honourable Elioda Tumwesigye, who commended the work done at CREEC as far as Energy and Energy Conservation is concerned. Other guests that graced the Occasion were the Vice Chancellor Makerere University and the president of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers among others.

We as CREEC would like to thank the organising committee for always giving us a chance to teach the young generation how to be innovative and create jobs through energy and energy conservation.
