 CREEC HOSTS BIOGAS BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

On 19th October 2015, CREEC held a biogas workshop to kiskstart the activities of the UNOPS project. The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) project is being implemented under the Switch Africa Green(SAG) program. The project is a collaboration between Afri-banana Products Limited and CREEC which will support activities aimed at upscaling Green Energy Technologies in Uganda. The main objective of the project is poverty eradication and employment creation through green, environmentally friendly and sustainable economic growth.

The guests who were key market players in the biogas sector gave the CREEC team insights on some of the challenges faced by the sector currently that CREEC could address in the various activities that would be carried out within the project.

The project also aims to enhance income generation, job creation and economy greening through awareness creation with regard to biomass based green technologies, capacity building on green energy generation commercialization and utilization, green energy business development and upscaling and engagement with policy decision makers for favorable policy direction. As a follow up to the biogas workshop, CREEC held a business development training for biogas companies under this project. The training which was held on 1st December 2015 addressed issues like conditions affecting the biogas business and the importance of assessing competition and how this can help one identify where their businesses stand in comparison to other competitors, assess strengths and weaknesses. The main aim of these trainings is to help the trainees identify market segments, enable preparation and development of business plans and to increase preparedness as regards to opportunities and threats.
