As CREEC’s Repair and Maintenance Tour in Northern Uganda draws to a close, the journey concludes with our 29th cohort of trainees in Arua, hosted at Arua Technical Institute, Ragem. This milestone marks another step in strengthening Uganda’s clean cooking ecosystem through practical, hands-on training.
Over the past weeks, technicians from across the region in Bweyale, Lira, Gulu, Nebbi and now Arua have been equipped with essential skills to repair and maintain electric cooking appliances such as electric pressure cookers, induction cookers, and air fryers. These technologies are key to advancing clean cooking adoption, and ensuring their longevity depends on skilled technicians within communities.
A distinctive feature of this initiative is CREEC’s collaboration with technical institutions. By hosting trainings within these schools, CREEC creates an enabling environment for hands-on learning while encouraging institutional buy-in with the goal of integrating repair and maintenance courses into ongoing programs.
This strategic approach ensures that knowledge transfer continues beyond CREEC’s direct interventions, embedding sustainability and skill development into Uganda’s education and energy systems.
As we complete our sessions in Arua, the impact of this tour reflects more than technical skill it represents empowerment, innovation, and a shared commitment to powering Uganda’s future through clean, modern, and sustainable energy through the unwavering support of our partners MECS through UKAid and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.
