Empowering Technicians, Enabling Communities: Highlights from the Kiboga Repair & Maintenance Training

At CREEC, we believe that when technicians are empowered, communities thrive. Our recent Repair and Maintenance Training in Kiboga was a powerful demonstration of this truth. The program which is being implemented with the support of MECS through UKAid and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development brought together local technicians who displayed remarkable enthusiasm for learning, collaboration, and growth.

A Training That Stood Out

What made this session unique was not just the technical knowledge shared, but the spirit in which it was received.

  • Commitment to learning: Technicians willingly took time off from their workshops to upgrade their skills, showing how much value they place on continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration at its best: The environment encouraged sharing of experiences, challenges, and practical solutions, proving that peer-to-peer learning is one of the strongest tools for growth.
  • Support from leadership: The Honorable Mayor of Kiboga, Kagali Henry, graced the event and emphasized the importance of such initiatives. His remarks highlighted how training programs like these expose people to trending technologies while creating an enabling environment for sustainability and innovation.

Why It Matters

The ripple effects of this training go far beyond the classroom:

  • Enhanced technical skills: Technicians now have sharper knowledge in repair and maintenance, enabling them to offer higher-quality services to their communities.
  • Sustainability in practice: With improved repair skills, eCooking devices and other clean energy technologies are more likely to remain in use for longer, reducing wastage and ensuring affordability.
  • Community empowerment: Every technician trained becomes a resource for their community, bridging the gap between innovation and everyday users.

Looking Ahead

The success in Kiboga reinforces CREEC’s commitment to expanding access to clean energy technologies through skill-building. It is a reminder that empowering technicians isn’t just about individual careers—it’s about building resilient communities ready to embrace new solutions for sustainable living.

Kudos to the technicians of Kiboga for their eagerness to learn and grow. With continued support, together we can close the skills gap, promote technological advancement, and ensure that no community is left behind in Uganda’s clean energy transition.
