Pilot Phase of the Discrete Choice Modelling Study Successfully Completed

CREEC, in collaboration with the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) programme, has successfully completed the pilot phase of the Discrete Choice Modelling (DCM) study in Mukono, Wakiso, and Kampala.

The pilot tested the survey tool and specially designed choice cards to ensure participants clearly understood the appliance attributes being compared. This critical step allowed our Research Assistants to refine the process before rolling out full-scale data collection.

The DCM study aims to better understand consumer preferences for modern eCooking appliances in Uganda, exploring attributes such as affordability, usability, efficiency, and durability. Insights from this study will inform policy, shape business models, and support financing strategies for scaling clean cooking adoption.

By placing households at the centre of the research, the study seeks to generate evidence that not only highlights what matters most to consumers but also accelerates the transition towards sustainable, modern cooking solutions in Uganda.
