This week, the Repair & Maintenance Training for eCooking technologies made its way to Fort Portal, and the energy here was simply unmatched.
From the very beginning, the commitment of the local youth stood out—especially the Ghetto youth (Rastas), who arrived early each day, eager to sharpen their skills and learn. Their enthusiasm created an atmosphere of focus, discipline, and hope.
The training was further strengthened by the presence of Mrs. Gladys, Environment Officer, and Mr. Albert Ahebwa, Speaker of Fort Portal City, representing the Mayor. Their support signaled how vital these initiatives are in aligning community growth with Uganda’s larger vision for sustainability.
But beyond fixing appliances, this program is about so much more:
- Creating livelihoods for young technicians.
- Saving resources by extending the life of appliances.
- Building confidence within communities to embrace eCooking as a practical, sustainable solution.
With support from the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) programme through UKAid and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (Uganda), communities like Fort Portal are taking ownership of cleaner, smarter energy solutions.
The impact here is proof that investing in skills and people is the most powerful way to spark transformation.
