Women and youth are central to the future of Uganda’s agricultural systems. As farmers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and community leaders, they play a critical role in driving food security, income generation, and climate resilience. Yet, their capacity to adopt and scale productive use of renewable energy (RA-PURE) innovations remains uneven and, in many cases, underexplored.
To address this gap, the Centre for Research in Energy and Energy Conservation (CREEC), in partnership with SNV Power for Food Partnership, conducted a comprehensive study titled:
“Mapping and Assessment of Women and Youth Networks’ Capacity to Integrate RA-PURE Innovations in Uganda.”
This report provides valuable insights into how women and youth networks are positioned to engage with RA-PURE technologies, the barriers they face, and the opportunities for strengthening their role in Uganda’s agri-food systems.
Dissemination Webinar: Save the Date

Why This Matters
Productive use of renewable energy has the potential to transform agriculture improving irrigation, processing, storage, and value addition. However, for RA-PURE innovations to be truly transformative, women and youth must be equipped, organised, and supported to adopt and scale these solutions.
This report sheds light on:
- The current capacity of women and youth networks to engage with RA-PURE technologies
- Institutional, technical, and financial barriers to adoption
- Opportunities for partnerships, policy support, and targeted capacity building
- Practical recommendations for practitioners, policymakers, and development partners
Who Should Attend
This webinar is particularly relevant for:
- Farmers and farmer organisations
- Practitioners and innovators in PURE technologies
- Women and youth networks
- Development partners, researchers, and policymakers
